Sports canyoning of Haut Verdon in the canyon of La Lance
This canyoning trail of La Lance is one of the most demanding canyon of the Haut-Verdon. The Torrent de la Lance will pleased all thrill seekers in an alpine topography.
The Torrent de la Lance cannot be used all summer because of its location but it’s always watered during this period. Located on the municipality of Colmars-les-Alpes, it’s about 1 hour drive away from Castellane and the Verdon Gorges.
The canyon of La Lance is a trail for athletics participant who must be in very good physical condition. Moreover, slippery rocks and a very cold water add difficulties to this trail. But beyond that, you will discover one of the most beautiful mountain trail of the Haut-Verdon.

Description Canyoning : Canyon of La Lance
When you arrive to the meeting spot in a parking lot, your instructor will provide all the equipment you need to practice canyoning safely. It includes a full neoprene wetsuit adjusted to your body, a pair of neoprene socks, a helmet, a harness with double safety lanyards, a bag and a waterproof container to carry your belongings and your meal.
You will then organise a shuttle across a beautiful forrest to take everybody to the departure of the Torrent de la Lance. Before beginning the descent, your instructor will inform you with all the safety instruction to enjoy this adventure in the best conditions.
You will start with an open ground punctuated with jumps (up to 8 meters/26 feet) and abseils (up to 25 meters/82 feet). You will swim across some beautiful pool filled with an ‘’O’limpide’’ (clear water) that might refresh your body temperature.
After the usual lunch break in the sunlight, you will reach the second part of this canyoning trail. You will go down a deep rocky circus by an impressive abseil followed by a 8 meters (26 feet) jump. Then you will go on with several jumps and abseils to access the famous waterfall of the Lance. You will make your way down under the waterfall by two successive abseils to finally reach the last pool of the trail. This is the end of the Torrent de la Lance and a 10 minutes walk will lead you to the meeting spot in Colmars-les-Alpes.
